An annual treat of information and entertainment

5.0 out of 5.0 by Jeffrey Daniels on July 30, 2019
Once, long ago, when I was more involved with comics as a buyer, seller and collector, I lived and breathed by this big book called the Overstreet Price Guide. Now, decades later, and just a simple reader, I've still got a closet and a half of white boxes. I don't revalue them every year (and try to give away a couple hundred each Halloween), but I still like to pick up a copy of this massive tome every other year. And, my, how it's grown!Always the first choice as a basis for pricing, valuing and studying comic book price movement, it's added so much more to the experience.Critical market data about all eras of comics (not just the "big guys"). Industry and market commentary. Intriguing historical articles and more. Heck, even the advertisements are entertaining. The only drawback might be you need to work out a little before trying to lift it!Great as ever and getting better each year. Nothing tops the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide for the comics enthusiast, collector, merchandiser or even old-time readers like me.
newest edition of the industry blue book

5.0 out of 5.0 by Jane b. on August 7, 2019
This is an indispensable resource for people who have anything to do with the comics industry, be it as seller of new books, vintage books, or just a collector. I know that there are those who insist that online price guides are just as good and more convenient, but there's one problem with them and it's an insurmountable one: Overstreet is the industry blue book, and that's the end of it. Online price guides have their place - Overstreet comes out once a year, so it doesn't pick up on things that skyrocket, and when it comes to collectible comics, that's something that happens on a regular basis. However, the online guides don't tell you how often that phenomenon is a flash-in-the-pan, and Overstreet is far more likely to ignore a temporary jump in value.
Check for missing pages.

I have been buying the new edition of the Overstreet Price Guide each year for over 30 years without any problems. However after reading the other reviews about missing pages, I checked as soon as I opened the package and sure enough I had both duplicate and missing pages. I am returning for a replacement.Update: the replacement arrived in 2 days with all pages.
Missing pages in a reference book kind of defeats the purpose of the book

Why is the book so small?

2.0 out of 5.0 by T. Harless on August 12, 2019
Print too small to be useful. Book needs to be at least 8x10. Bigger in a magazine format would be better with two versions - Marvel and DC.

It's a good book to look up any major key issue prices like a Amazing Fantasy #15 or a TEC #27 but not for everything. It dosnt really reflect the market for what i would call minor keys like Marvel Spotlight #32 or New Gods #1. I like the fact that it has different stories and antidotes about the comic year in passing. Those are enjoyable to read. It also gives you a brief description of the significance of each book which is helpful for determining potential keys.
