Be careful not to use if you are already using blood thinners, and find a functional doctor who will guide you in using this.

I had a pulmonary embolism caused by a blood clot in my leg and was advised by a functional medical practitioner that using Nattokinase would be beneficial after I stop using blood thinners to help dissolve the remnants of the clot that remain in my leg and to help prevent future blood clots from forming,.I discussed this with a hematologist who was adamant against this. He thought it would be best for me to stay on blood thinners for the rest of my life. When I brought up the fact there are several studies backing up the use of Nattokinase as a very powerful fibrinolytic (anti-clotting) enzyme and he had no idea what I was talking about...I decided to find a hematologist who was versed in functional medicine. He was aware that I used Nattokinase, and so far all of my blood work has been fine.I speak from personal experience. Having said that, if you have a similar issue, find a cardiologist/hematologist/general practitioner who practices functional medicine so they can advise you on how you might be able to use this as a tool to prevent future blood clots. SOme doctors may be willing to learn more if you tell them that there are studies showing Nattokinase helps prevent blood clots from forming, dissolves existing blood clots, dissolves fibrin, and enhances the body’s production of plasmin and other clot-dissolving agents, including urokinase (an enzyme produced by the kidneys and found in the urine, which activates plasminogen). It is not recommended to use Nattokinase while taking blood thinners due to the risk of side effects/bleeding episodes. If you found this review or any of my other reviews interesting or helpful, please rate is as "helpful" and or leave a comment. I enjoy writing reviews and hearing feedback about what I have written as I feel reviews help those interested make an informed decision before purchasing. I also feel that honest and informative reviews improve a product by providing insight to the company. I believe reviews should be honest no matter whether an item was free, at a discount, or purchased. I am not connected to this company or any of the companies of products that I review. It's working

My husband has a Rare blood cancer (polycythemia vera) that makes his blood too thick. The Dr. was taking a pint of blood every 2 weeks plus he was taking aspirin each day hoping his body would finally get the message that it didn't need to make so much, this wasn't helping. The only other option was blood thinners which we refuse to start. I did my research and found what has helped other people and prayed it would help my husband.I started him on:NOW Foods Ginkgo Biloba 120mg, 1 per dayBLUE ICE Fermented Cod Liver Oil, 2 per dayLife Extension Natural Vitamin E, 1 per dayDoctor's Best Nattokinase, 2 in the morning on empty stomach and 2 before supper on empty stomachIt has been been 6 weeks and the Dr. hasn't had to draw off any blood. We will continue with this treatment.UPDATE: My husband saw the Dr. yesterday and is still doing fine.
Worthless Product

In order for systemic enzymes like nattokinase and serrapeptase to work, they have to survive the stomach's acid bath long enough to reach the alkaline environment of the intestines. Doctor's Best Nattokinase fails to survive the stomach. I purchased the product to break down some painful scar tissue (along with a bottle of serrapeptase), recalling that a former girlfriend of mine burned her left leg in 2007, and had a scar four inches in diameter. She used a bottle of Vitalzym to dissolve the scar, and in three months it was the size of a dime. Now, eleven years later, the scar is no more. I should have purchased Vitalzym, because the manufacturer specially coats the enzymes, suspended in liquid, to survive the stomach, reach the intestines, and enter the bloodstream. I have emptied a 270 count bottle of each serrapeptase and nattokinase from Doctor's Best and there is no appreciable reduction in scar tissue; even little scars on my forearms, five millimeters in diameter, are still the same size. The body decides where enzymes are most needed, but there has been no reduction in ANY of my scars. Avoid this product. I must have been writing about my experience with Vitalzym when I wrote my earlier review, and I found an empty bottle of Vitalzym in my supplement cabinet yesterday (1NOV18).
Great for Endometriosis

5.0 out of 5.0 by Allie on September 15, 2017
This will be a bit detailed and personal but is important info for women who have this same problem: I have endometriosis and was using a different product until it ended up on back order and I was with nothing for a month. I found info about Serrapeptase combined with the Nattokinase and decided to try them. I started about three weeks before my cycle and didn't notice any change that first cycle. But this month was a different story! I had no cramping, which NEVER happens, and no clotting with a normal flow, which also never happens. I typically get so extremely tired a day or two before and the first two days of my cycle that I can barely function, but not this month! I have had so much energy and have felt great (probably because I'm not losing so much blood). It did not help with the bloating yet, but I'm still hopeful that it will help with that eventually. Great products but also be aware that you may bruise easier as the Nattokinase is a blood thinner.
Blood clots, blood pressure & DVT

This is so great I so recommend this, I felt the difference with in 24 hours, my blood pressure dropping, the ringing in my ears fading. With in two days the swelling in my left leg was gone and the swelling in my right leg was down by seventy five percent. Only time will tell if it if it cleans the plaque from my arteries, but it feels like its off to a fantastic start. This is good quality at a reasonable price. I just can't speak highly enough of it. Doctors best is so good I have ordered their Serrapeptase as well. I have heard wonderful things about combining the two.
