I love these things

4.0 out of 5.0 by Liam on June 22, 2018
NOTE: When it comes to earmuffs, 180's Exolites are my go to. These and similar 180s Exolites are used during the Chicago Fall and Winter Seasons.THE GOOD:1. They're thin and they pack up nicely. This makes them easy to store, move, and keep safe on your person.2. "Stylish"; well, as stylish as you can be with ear muffs. (I've had black, black with carbon fiber (your guess is as good as mine as to why this option was needed), and black with camouflage (they we're cheap)). The black on black is probably the best. They're discreet and minimal.3. They truly do protect from the wind. My ears become bloodshot when exposed to moderate wind, and it can be a bit painful. Even though these are fairly thin, it keeps my ears quite toasty.4. The headphone hole is a plus, especially if you wear in ear headphones (I cannot comment on the iphone buds for this case, as I've only used wired earbuds.).5. The earholes, when not used, doesn't let much if any air in.6. They're comfortable. Truly, they feel sometimes like you have nothing on. They're a soft cloth material and the rubber is flexible. They fit pretty snug so you won't have to worry about having to readjust them or them falling off.THE BAD:1. If you have larger ears, they may not cover them completely. I haven't had this issue, but I feel my ears are hitting just about the edges of the device.2. There are 2 screws on the device that allow for it to swivel into compact mode, and ready-to-use mode. These screws are hexagon shaped (you'll need a hexagon key tool in order to mess with it.) The size of key hole is a bit off. My current tools were either just too big, or just too small to use on it.3. (Hex shape tool continued...) The screws will become loose after extended use. This means the ear pieces will begin to swivel the wrong direction, and eventually start losing structure support; it'll feel like the device just won't stay on your head. This is where the hex key tool comes in. See if you can buy a tool that's the same size as the whole (go to Home Depot or similar shop and just start sticking hex key tools into the hex key nut on the device. Once you find the right size, mark it down or purchase the tool). A few years back on an earlier model, I was able to tighten the screw a few times, when I had the right key, and they felt like new afterwards.4. (Length of use) After about 4 months of use, you'll start to feel the screws loosen. This means it'll last about 1 winter season before starting to go south. It's not the end of the world, but it's annoying.5. The ear holes are not the easiest holes to use (the stitching doesn't allow for too much stretch), but since they're an extra feature of the product I don't mind them not being perfect. If THIS is the reason you're purchasing these earmuffs, instead of another type, I would hold off. The earmuff are great, but this feature could use more renditions.6. (ear hold continued) The earmuffs are meant to be held snug to your head. With headphones in that means you may feel a bit of pressure from the headphone ear buds pressing on your head, due to the extra compression from the earmuffs. I'd say it's a hit or miss on comfort when you have headphones in—More than not I didn't enjoy the initial feeling of the earmuffs and headphones on, but after a while I was able to ignore that uncomfortable feeling.
Screw falls out!

1.0 out of 5.0 by tmbirdsall on January 3, 2018
After only several times wearing these, the screw fell out that holds it together. Wrote to Customer service at 180s: They said they stopped producing them 4 years ago, and there was no spare parts. They offered nothing! No discount, no sorry this happened to you! Nothing! I will not buy anything from this company again. I was only able to wear them a handful of times! Bought last Jan. 3,2017 didn't even make it a year!
There is a slit in the middle of these- compromises the seal that is the original purpose of the product.

I ordered these to be a spare in case my original Exolites ever broke. I love these ear warmers because they do protect my ears. I was really disappointed when they arrived with big slits in the middle of the pads where I wanted a seal from the wind. I do not wear ear earbuds. I will keep them as a last option in case I do need a pair in an emergency. I really have enjoyed the slim design of these earwarmers for many years.
Super thin & just warm enough!

4.0 out of 5.0 by somemorestuff on January 13, 2018
Works every day during the winter & super compact. Just warm enough for a 1/4 mile walk into work with ~15 degree weather. Easily covers my big ears & works well with in-ear earbuds of all kinds (I use Plantronics Back-Beat, which is kinda big). The hinges tend to come un-screwed after lots of use, but they can be tightened again with an allen wrench - no damage after 1 year of use. I'll be ordering another!
You can't stay warm if your ears are cold - problem solved!

Have owned a number of pairs of 180's over the years. They are comfortable and extremely durable. I wear them under my winter hats for true warmth on cold days. For vigorous activities, running, hiking, yard work, they are perfect on their own. They hold well and accommodate my ponytail. Love the collapsible feature - handy to pocket or pack. Have not used the earbud feature, but that is probably a good thing as a herd of mule deer snuck up on me while wearing these during landscape work - that is how insulating they are! I particularly like this soft, plush covered style.
Super Winter Sports Ear Covers - Not so super after all

1.0 out of 5.0 by Brian S on November 12, 2018
I use these for winter running and biking in Minnesota and they work great. I've used them at temps below 10 already and they are comfortable and the right warmth.Update: These worked fine for 2 months then snapped when opening them up on a very cold day. The plastic got brittle a snapped with little pressure at the screw attachment point. There are pictures of other users who have the same experience.
don't really need the cut out for earbuds!

Love these because they are warm, low profile and fold up to pocket size nicely. We have older pairs and the adjustable slide on older pieces made them less likely to stay securely on, happy that seems to have disappeared! Now, if the earbud cutout goes away, they'd be back to perfect!
My boss introduced this brand to me and I like the lightweight design

5.0 out of 5.0 by Silvia M. on April 26, 2017
I live in the Midwest which gets cold winters. My boss introduced this brand to me and I like the lightweight design. The muffs have a small opening for ear phones would be my best guess. I'm able to keep them in my pocket, work bag, or just about anywhere. This was the best price I could find anywhere.
